Chrysocolla
Meaning – General Information.

Chrysocolla gets its name from the Greek chrysos, “gold”, and kolla, “glue”, referring to the material used since the earliest times by goldsmiths as an ingredient for solder and mentioned by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and botanist back in 315 BCE.

This crystal is a hydrated copper silicate that has a monoclinic crystal system and forms in the oxidation zones of copper rich ore bodies. It is

usually found as botryoidal masses, crusts and vein fillings. It is coloured blue, Cyan or blue-green and green; and sometimes found with brown or black splotches. Chrysocolla has a Mohs hardness of 2.5 to 3.5.

Chrysocolla is soft and fragile, however, in the hands of skilled craftsmen can produce an attractive and valuable piece of jewellery. It has inspired creativity among many artisans, from ancient goldsmiths to Renaissance painters. It has also been crushed and used as a pigment for paint. As well as finding its way through to modern-day designer jewellers who are creating elaborate pieces with it. Today it is a favoured stone among jewellers; symbolizing prosperity, luck and determination and it also lends itself well to opulence.

A ritual using Chrysocolla to remove yourself from harm:

If you need to remove yourself from emotional tension and even physical danger, caused by a troublesome situation, or from a dangerous relationship, this process should be of invaluable assistance.

Take a piece of paper or cloth and draw a 9 inch or 22.5cm circle and cut it out. Find a quiet location where you can sit and meditate. Also somewhere your circle will not be disturbed for the next 9 nights.  Set a Chrysocolla in the centre of the circle and reflect on what this situation is costing you in terms of physical danger, self-esteem, emotional stress, psychological duress, as well as financially.

Do this process for nine nights, each time moving the Chrysocolla closer to the edge of the circle. Each day complete whatever measures are appropriate and needed for you to become safe. As you complete the ninth sitting, you should be able to remove the Chrysocolla from the circle and move forward into freedom.

Conversely, if you procrastinate and defer or do not take the necessary steps to remove yourself from this situation, even though you dutifully move the stone you will not gain freedom from your problem.

You may start again, but perhaps you could consider why you were unable to do it the first time, before beginning again.
