Hello and welcome.
“You love what you do, don’t you.” Was this a question or a statement, I wondered as we sat on our front veranda, sharing a cuppa with new friends. I quickly realised that it was both; it was an observation being made about us, as well as a question or confirmation of whether Sue and I really understood the depth of our commitment and involvement and the effect it has.
I perfunctorily answered for both Sue and myself that of course we did. And that’s when my words struck me deep in my own core – of course we do – to the depths of our souls, it’s so much a part of who we are!
As more time passed it seemed that we encouraged each other to talk more about what we do, who we are and why we do what we do. Don’t we all love these conversations and even more so when they are sincere? And let’s face it; we all delight in the light of appreciation and recognition of what we do and who we are.
To our new friends, thank you for allowing us that opportunity.
I hope you don’t think me fawning, but I am sharing this with you for a couple of reasons. Firstly, just in case you haven’t already worked it out, we absolutely love what we do and we trust that this reflects in our relationship with you and this is why you are among our customers, clients and students.
And secondly, to encourage you to take the time and opportunity to let people you know that love what they do, that you notice. We all benefit from and appreciate positive feedback and endorsement.
Volunteering in the community.
Sue and I just got home from an invigorating and productive walk around Jensen’s Swamp Environmental Reserve, where we were preparing to play our part as volunteers. This group are developing the reserve and also using it to educate the younger members of the local and greater community to appreciate and get involved in nature. Our project tomorrow is to show the students of one of our local schools around, while getting them to participate with nature in a fun and educational way. Our particular tasks are to take them on a nature walk and introduce them to finding their way in the bush using a compass and to later assist them with some tree planting.
I am telling you this because it gives you a bit more of an insight into who Ron and Sue are and what we get up to—and I would like to encourage you to get involved in some cause within your own community. Not only for the benefit and value you will add, but equally for the self-worth and joy it can bring into your own life. Whenever we get to talk with volunteers across all sorts of endeavours, and in all age groups, it seems that they gain back in personal growth and reward much more than they contribute.
And this is one of the essential keys to living a happy and fulfilled life. Universal Law demands balanced scales.
Equally important is the role that walking in nature has in keeping you well balanced and grounded. An attentive, daily walk in a beautiful natural environment does wonders for your soul, as well as helping to keep your body toned and healthy. This is my #1 tip for anyone who wants to keep themself at their best; physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Stone of the month: Chalcedony
Chalcedony or Calcedony can be considered as an individual crystal type as well as a family or group name, or catch all term that includes many well known varieties of cryptocrystalline quartz gemstones; each of these has its own distinct characteristics that allow it to stand apart.
Chalcedony is a fibrous cryptocrystalline form of silica with very fine intergrowths of Quartz; it is a semi precious stone that occurs in many shapes and can assume a wide range of colours, but those most commonly seen are white to grey, greyish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black. It is a dense, more or less translucent stone, with a wax like lustre. It occurs in sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks.
Chalcedony comes from the Latin ‘calcedonius’. It is also believed to derive from the name of the ancient Greek town Khalkedon in Asia Minor, today the Kadıköy district of Istanbul.
Because of its abundance, durability, and beauty, Chalcedony was amongst the earliest raw materials used by humankind: Primitive man made weapons and tools from Chalcedony as well as utilizing it for ceremonial purposes and personal adornment.
Peoples living along the Central Asian trade routes used various forms of Chalcedony, to carve intaglios, ring bezels (the upper faceted portion of a gem projecting from the ring setting), and beads that show a strong Greco-Roman influence. It has been used from as early as the Bronze Age in the Mediterranean region; on Minoan Crete at the Palace of Knossos, Chalcedony seals have been recovered dating to circa 1800 BC.
Further examples of first century objects made from Chalcedony, possibly from the Kushan Empire, were found in recent years at Tillya-tepe in north-western Afghanistan. Hot wax would not stick to it so it was often used to make seal impressions.
The Romans prized it for seals, and the Victorians carved it into an endless array of cameos and intaglios. Chalcedony was used throughout the Renaissance for magic, health and safety. Across the ages Chalcedony has been prized by engravers, and many coloured varieties are still cut and polished as ornamental stones.
Chalcedony is one of the gemstones that are used in commesso, also called Florentine mosaic: This is a technique of fashioning pictures with thin, cut-to-shape pieces of brightly coloured semiprecious stones, developed in Florence in the late 16th century. Commesso pictures are used mainly for tabletops and small wall panels; they range from emblematic and floral subjects to landscapes.
At least three varieties of Chalcedony were used in the Jewish High Priest's Breastplate.
Considered a sacred stone by the Native American Indians, Chalcedony is a nurturing stone that promotes brotherhood and good will.
Chalcedony promotes calm and peace. It brings the body, mind, emotions and spirit into harmony. Chalcedony instils feelings of benevolence and generosity and creates openness and enthusiasm. It alleviates self-doubt. It lessens hostility and transforms melancholy into joy. Absorbs and dissipates negative energy along with negative thoughts, emotions and bad dreams. It is believed to banish fear, hysteria, depression, mental illness and sadness. It is known to stimulate creativity and may also be used to assist with telepathy.
Chalcedony improves mineral assimilation and combats mineral build-up in veins. It lessens the effects of dementia and senility. It increases physical energy. Mothers can use it to increase lactation, and it also fosters the maternal instinct. It is a powerful cleanser, reduces fever, and heals the eyes, gallbladder, bones, spleen, blood and circulatory system.
In addition to the generic healing properties of Chalcedony, specific colours have additional attributes:
Blue Chalcedony is a creative stone that imparts mental flexibility and verbal dexterity. It stimulates the ability to learn new languages and improves memory. Blue Chalcedony promotes a feeling of light heartedness, with the ability to look forward optimistically, and improves self-perception. It enhances the immune system. Blue Chalcedony has an anti-inflammatory effect and lowers temperature and blood pressure. It aids regeneration of mucus membranes and heals the lungs and clears the respiratory system of the effects of smoking.
Pink Chalcedony is a spiritual stone that encourages empathy and inner peace and creates a deep sense of trust. Pink Chalcedony encourages kindness and brings out a sense of childlike wonder and willingness to learn new things. It will help reassure children during a divorce. It is also good for helping adopted, foster or step children who may be feeling insecure. It is a great stone for first-time mothers and can be used for any post-natal difficulties. It will also help to relieve shock and trauma.
White Chalcedony instils feelings of benevolence and generosity. Removes hostility and transforms melancholy into joy.
Crystal Tips and Techniques
Introducing the living energy of plants into your home, office and especially healing rooms is one of the most effective ways to keep your environment energetically clean and invigorated. Apart from adding natural beauty, pot plants also help to keep your air oxygenated as well as helping to displace stagnant energies and restore vibrancy. They also play a role in negating EMF’s.
Naturally the better you care for your plant(s) the better the job they will do. As you do this, you may find that you feel a lot better too.
Placing a crystal, especially a Clear Quartz Point into the soil of your potted plant will give it an added boost.
Creating a Manifesting and/or Healing Grid Using Crystals
Let’s take a look at using a simple crystal Grid made with natural crystal points to help manifest your desires, or to promote healing. These can actually be any size you want to work with, but they need only be small, anywhere between 2 and 5cms would be OK.
You could use 13 similar size points or you could have 12 small points and 1 larger point to sit in the middle. Usually you would use Clear Quartz, but I have also had excellent results using Amethyst and Citrine.
Clear Quartz as you would probably already know is an all-round master healer and energy amplifier, so it is ideal for this purpose. Amethyst provides a soothing, comforting and protective influence, ideal in healing matters. And Citrine is a joyous, energizing, wealth and abundance stone that is a powerful cleanser and regenerator. 
Now that you have your crystals, cleanse them to de-program and clear them of any unwanted influence. An easy way to do this is to wash them under running water. And I usually smudge and clean the room before I start.
Next create an alter for want of a better description, in an area that will not be in the way of day to day activities. An easy means to do this is to use a small round display table or a card table and cover it with an appealing cloth. You can also use a section of the floor if a table or similar is not available.
On top of this area, set a circle with your crystals. The diameter is largely determined by the space available, but about 30cms or 12” is OK. Place the 12 points evenly around the circumference with the points facing inwards. (This is an area of great debate; one school says pointing in because this concentrates the energy, and the other says pointing out as this broadcasts out into the universe. For my part I prefer and have had better success with the points facing in).
For manifesting, it is now time to write out a description of the desired item or outcome on a piece of paper and place it in the centre, or a photograph may be employed. Now take the 13th crystal between your hands in prayer position and activate it for your purpose. This is done by stating words similar to these; “I ask that I be granted my desire for (and here state your written request or as represented by your photograph) and that it is manifested by (here state your date for achievement).* My request is accompanied by my desire for the highest good for all and the understanding that this or better will be delivered. Amen.”
* Be reasonable in your request, being sure it is something you really want and that you allow sufficient time for its realisation. Manifesting is still subject to universal laws.
Now place it over your request and wait for the outcome. Of course keep this area clean and remember to dismantle when your desire is manifest.
Better still, is to set it in place for an hour or so and then draw a ‘tree of life’ symbol over the top of it. While you are doing this you set your intention and state that the energy created remains manifest until your desire is granted.
A tree of life symbol ( ( I ) ) is created by drawing an imaginary vertical line, top to bottom over the grid or circle, using your dominant hand; then a curved line to the left, then on the right; this is repeated again a little further out. You end up tracing an imaginary symbol like this ( ( I ) ) over your grid. Remember to state your request for continuance until manifest.
For healing the process is the same, just the details are a little different. Here you can use a picture of the person that healing is being asked for. This can be yourself or another. Writing the person’s name, address and date of birth on a piece of paper is another effective way of identifying the recipient.
Hold the centre or activating crystal in your hands as before and state your request for healing. Even when I know the specific details of the problem, I usually find a generalized request gets better results. For example; “may this person be returned to their ideal state of health on all levels, and may whatever happens be for the highest good! Amen”.
Keep in mind that this process can be used to heal any animal, event, situation, or relationship and not just people. It can be used to heal businesses and disputes between people.
These grids are powerful tools, so it’s important to be very clear and sure of your intention and the outcome you desire before you start. If you are doing work on behalf of another be absolutely sure you have their permission.
Never use this to try to gain advantage or to manipulate another, or to go against their will. Karma or retribution from Universal Law can have a nasty bite.
