Well,
hello again. What a busy time we seem to be having lately. What is it they say –
“idle hands make for devils play”, or something like that, not the case around
here! Not TOO busy though, because we make it a point to maintain
balance.
The
other day I met with an acquaintance who was run of her feet – a case of far
too busy. For some reason she was allowing circumstances to run her life and
was becoming overwhelmed, run-down and frazzled. I tried to say to her, that she
needed to take some time back to re-centre and recharge herself. But like many of us who get “that” busy,
she wasn’t listening, and besides she was too busy
anyway!
Soon we
might be seeing her as a client, after she has burnt her vital life-force away
and totally upset her equilibrium. Sure, as healers we welcome new business, but
why not prevent the requirement for healing in the first
place.
If you
too are busy, I encourage you to take a little time out and spend it in some
enjoyable re-creation. Especially
something like yoga or meditation, I also recommend having a regular ‘energy
treatment’, like a massage, a Reiki session or a crystal chakra balance, or any
other similar treats.
Special Announcement: The Meditation For Peace Project:-
This is a cause for Peace and a Once in a Lifetime Opportunity for
YOU and I and people all around the world to participate and contribute to
making a real difference in the world.
Imagine, even if just for a moment, a world in
which we all get along. Isn’t this a part of what we all want? - A world in
which each of us has the freedom to be the best of who we are, while allowing
others to be the best of who they are? - A world in which we can lift each other
up, rather than tearing each other apart.
Idealistic! I don’t believe so.
I have observed people achieve this, and then extend their peace and
understanding into their families and their communities. Imagine vast numbers of
us, energetically linked, figuratively holding hands all around the world. And
then we all sit down and meditate* together, whilst holding a vision and the vibration of love and
peace. This has the potential to vibrationally change the default setting
currently on Mother Earth from one of fear and distrust to one of love, courage,
peace and empowerment.
My mission is to gather this group together to achieve this purpose
and I invite you to join with us. Information is available now at www.theworldmeditation.com
An announcement for Brisbane area customers;
Over the years we have had the opportunity to meet quite a few of
you personally at our stand at the Fernvale Markets. We have enjoyed answering
your questions and being able to display a large amount of what we have for
sale.
Somewhere in the next bit of time we will be giving up the markets
in order to buy back some time, so that we also don’t overdo it. More
importantly though it will allow us to conduct some extra classes on the
weekend, especially as many find weekdays
difficult.
If you
have enjoyed the personal shopping, you will be pleased to know that we now have
many of our products available for sale within CJ’s Whitelight Cafe and Gifts.
This is located just up the road at 1506 Brisbane Valley H/way, Fernvale. It is
open Tuesday to Sunday. Why not make a day out of it – have lunch or coffee at
the cafe, pick up some great products and do a little sight seeing in the
beautiful Somerset region. The tourist information centre is conveniently
located just up the road.
On
Tuesday nights, except the last one each month, we will be conducting an open meditation at CJ’s. We will be
starting at 7pm and finishing about 8.30. You are welcome to stay on for a light
supper afterwards. Cost for the night will be $10.00. We would love to see you
there, so if you can make it please come along. It is advisable to book on 5426

Products.
During
the last month we have added a new section covering an extensive range of Resin and Wood
Incense, plus charcoal
tablets.
How to Burn Resin Incense
Since
early times, incense has been an integral part of worship and ritual in temples,
churches, ashrams, and mosques as well as being used in the home to purify and
sweeten the atmosphere and remove or neutralize negative
energies.
Most of you are familiar with stick incense and
cones, but you may never have experienced the pleasures of burning pure resins
and chips. So let us encourage you to release these fragrant treasures of nature
into your personal environment.
These
are the items you'll need to get started:
1. Incense Resin.
2.
Charcoal
Tablets.
3. A suitable
container.
4. Matches or a cigarette lighter.
5. A
candle.
6.
Sand.
7.
Mica Plate. (Optional)
8. A feather or piece of cardboard. (Optional)
9.
Long handled Tweezers or long nose pliers.

Incense Resin
There is plenty to choose from; resins like
Frankincense and Myrrh, in granules or powders, and wood chips like Sandalwood
and pine, to mixes and ritual blends.
The Container
You can use a store bought incense burner or censer, look
for one that is brass, bronze, or stoneware and that preferably has legs.
The legs of the vessel prevent the heat from damaging the surface beneath it.
Traditional incense vessels have three legs - symbolizing the body, mind
and spirit.
You can make do with anything else that suits the purpose, such as an
ashtray, a plain metal or porcelain bowl, but whatever you are using, make sure
you set it on a fireproof surface; a trivet, or an old tile, or a ceramic plate
is suitable for this. I prefer to use a little sand in the bottom of
whatever censer I am using.
If you are using a plain metal or porcelain
bowl, it’s best if you can fill it with sand and place your
charcoal on the top of this. Use your imagination, most likely you already
have something around the house that will make a great censer. You don't
need a fancy incense burner to enjoy the ritual of incense burning.
If you want to burn incense outdoors find a large
flat stone and heat it up in the campfire. You may then sprinkle the surface of
the stone with your incense. If you throw herbs or incense resins directly into
the fire they burn too quickly. This method will also work in your home
fireplace.
Charcoal Tablets or Disks
The Charcoal tablets or disks that are used for
incense burning are NOT the same as those used for your backyard barbecue
grill. You won't want to use BBQ charcoal indoors as it may produce noxious
fumes.
Once lit, Incense charcoal is self-burning; the
means of combustion is included in the disk. If you have a hard time lighting
your charcoal, it may be damp. Leave it out in the sun to
dry.
It's always best to place the charcoal on a bed of
sand. It will burn more evenly and keep its amber like glow longer. In addition
the sand will reduce the risk of the container cracking due to the extensive
heat charcoal produces. The sand layer under the charcoal should be at least
2cms deep.
If you have a Mica Plate, this is a small thin
piece of the mineral Mica; you can lay it on top of the charcoal. You then
deposit your resin onto the plate and it will begin to burn. A Mica plate helps
your material last longer as it is not in direct contact with the
charcoal.
Feather
Feathers are traditionally used to fan the lighted charcoal; any kind
of large feather will do. If you don’t have a feather then a piece of cardboard
can be used as a fan. Fanning the charcoal provides oxygen which allows the
tablet to produce a more even burn.
Candle
This is used to light the charcoal disk. I have a preference for
plain unscented candles for this purpose. Once you light the candle with your
matches or lighter, you have the benefit of a continuing flame, which makes it
easier to light the charcoal, avoiding the annoyance of matches extinguishing
before you get the tablet going and/or burning your fingers.
Tweezers
Use a long handled pair of tweezers or pliers
to hold the charcoal over the candle flame and then deposit it in the incense
vessel. N.B. Do not attempt to light or
hold the charcoal tablet with your fingers.
Burning Your Incense
Set aside sufficient time so that you can enjoy the ritual of burning
incense. Choose a location, where there are no easily combustible objects
nearby. Be aware that fanning and blowing charcoal may send sparks into the
air.
First gather all your items together. Start by lighting your candle.
Then holding the charcoal tablet with your tweezers, place it in the candle
flame until the tablet starts to crackle and glow. Next set the charcoal in your
container on a bed of sand. You may now slowly fan or blow on the tablet. Only
after the charcoal is aglow and stops crackling do you put your incense into the
indentation on the top.
Be careful...it's hot. Use a knife, spoon or tweezers to drop your
incense onto the tablet.
Finally, be aware of a potential fire hazard: Charcoal may
continue to burn for two hours after lighting - so don't just throw it in the
garbage or onto the garden. It’s a good idea to leave disposal for a least a few
hours, or I prefer to leave it until the next day.

Stone of the
month:
Carnelian is one of the most popular and abundantly available members of the
Chalcedony family. This stone is a microcrystalline silicate, or a type of
Quartz, it is translucent and comes in a variety of colours ranging from red to
orange and in some cases, even to dark brown.
It is said to be one of the stones used in the
breastplate of the high priest and in biblical times was used in soldiers
breastplates to protect and fortify them against fear. In ancient times it was
used to protect the dead on their journey to the afterlife. Carnelian conveys an
understanding and acceptance of the cycle of life and overcomes the fear of
death.
Carnelian is a stabilising and grounding stone and
anchors you to current reality. It enhances analytical abilities, perceptiveness
and awakens hidden talents and gifts. Inspirers creativity in all forms of art
particularly drama and theatre. It awakens curiosity and bolsters courage,
especially for shy people. Wearing Carnelian is said to provide courage and
eloquence to public speakers.
Carnelian promotes positive life choices, helps
overcome fear and doubt, it dispels apathy, indolence and passivity and
motivates for success. It allows you to take control of your life and choose the
most advantageous direction, while assisting you to embrace change and
transformation.
This stone is a protector against envy, fear, rage
and resentment and helps to expel sorrow and emotional negativity, by replacing
it with a love of life.
It helps meditators to feel settled and secure and
it clears the mind of extraneous thoughts. It also sharpens concentration and
dispels mental lethargy.
Carnelian lends vitality and energy to the
physical body. It helps to purify the body and prepares it as a temple of the
soul. It is an excellent support for detoxifying and breaking negative or
hurtful negative habits and generally improving overall health.
It stimulates the metabolism and improves the
absorption of vitamins and minerals and ensures a good supply of blood to the
organs and tissues. Carnelian regulates bodily fluids and the kidneys. It also
accelerates healing in the bones and ligaments and staunches blood flow. It is
especially helpful in balancing and healing the sexual organs and it is also
believed to enhance and stimulate sexual activity.
Crystal
Tips and Techniques.
Relief from
insomnia (Continued from last
month). If
you are just not sleeping as well as you would like, then an effective way to
get a solid, soothing night’s sleep, is to place a large piece of Rose Quartz or
Selenite close to each corner of your bed. Now, this is particularly effective
for a child’s bed or cot. If the child is old enough, you can also place a
crystal under their pillow. If your insomnia or a child’s, is due to feelings of
insecurity, fears – known and unknown, or night terrors, then you may calm these
by placing a Mangano Calcite, Moss Agate or a Smokey Quartz under the pillow or
mattress. When nightmares are the
cause of a disturbed nights sleep, relief may be at hand by keeping any of these
under your pillow; Amethyst, Celestite, Chrysoprase, Hematite, Jet, Mangano
Calcite, Prehnite, Ruby, Turquoise, or Smokey Quartz.
Crystals can provide protection from our High Tech
World.
Today we live in a high
tech world full of electronics which are creating chaotic energy fields all around us.
Unfortunately our modern conveniences like mobile phones, computers and
microwaves all emit radiation and electromagnetic waves that negatively
interfere with our bodies' magnetic fields. An easy way to overcome and protect
ourselves from these effects is by carrying or wearing crystals, as they need to
be in close proximity to be effective for this purpose. Fortunately, these gifts
from nature have organic energies that can help us return to and maintain our
natural healthy state. Carrying and wearing appropriate crystals is a convenient
and easy way to maintain your body’s magnetic field. Wearing jewellery is a stylish, easy way
to maintain your health, restoring physical, mental, and spiritual health to its
perfect natural state.
