My
Crystalaura Newsletter.
April
2009
Not
long after you get this newsletter it will be Easter, for those of Christian
persuasion; a very important time commemorating
the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his death by crucifixion.
Easter
also celebrates the promise of life in the face of death, and Easter
celebrations also reflect on peace and forgiveness.
A Christian scholar, the Venerable Bede (672-735 AD), first asserted that Easter was named
after Eostre, the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe.
Her name was derived from the ancient word for spring, Eastre.
Pagan festivals associated with birth, the renewal of life, fertility and
sunrise date back long before Christianity. Pagan religions are recorded as
having a major seasonal day of celebration on or following the Spring Equinox.
Many of the present-day customs of Easter have their origins in these
festivals.
Easter
Holidays
are
in addition to their religious significance enjoyed in Australia as a
four-day holiday long weekend starting on Good Friday and ending on Easter
Monday. This extra long weekend is an opportunity for Australians to take
a mini-holiday, or to get together with family and friends. Easter often
coincides with school holidays, so many people with school aged children
incorporate Easter into a longer family holiday.
It is also the time of Hot Cross Buns, Easter Eggs and the Easter Bunny
and for those who are ecologically sensitive the Easter Bilby.
And for many of us a time to forget about the calorie count and just
enjoy the chocolate. Whatever you are doing over the Easter break, may it be
enjoyable and significant for you and your family.

such as illness, disappointments and arguments.
Buddha.
'The Enlightened One' is a symbol of love, compassion and salvation.
There are many variants of Buddhism, but they are all motivated by the quest to
attain a long-lasting state of contentment through mental, spiritual and moral
development.
The position of Buddha’s hands has powerful symbolic meaning. His left
hand symbolizes, offering, giving, welcoming, charity, compassion and sincerity.
His raised right hand symbolizes protection, benevolence and peace, and the
dispelling of fear.
The wheels on Buddha's hands represent the Wheel of Buddhist law, the
endless cycle of birth and rebirth.
Buddha's lotus throne is a symbol of his
purity.
Inspirational Quote for the month.
“Nothing can hurt you, unless you give it the power to do so.” From
‘A Course In Miracles’.
Stone
of the month.
For
all those born in the month of April, your Birthstone is Diamond.
Intensity
is a
key word for diamond; it emanates more energy for its size than any
other crystal. It is also an energy amplifier. This mineral is known as the “King of Crystals,” it reflects all
colours of the rainbow and chakra system. It is a stone of clarity, commitment
and communication that enhances prosperity, love and spirituality.
The Diamond has been the preeminent symbol of wealth for thousands of years
and is a stone of manifestation, attracting abundance. It is also a symbol of
purity and is said to bond relationships, bringing love, constancy and clarity
into a partnership. It is seen as a symbol of commitment and fidelity.
It enhances creativity by stimulating inventiveness and imagination. It
will bring clarity of mind and aid enlightenment. It reminds you of your soul’s
aspirations and assists its’ spiritual evolution.
Diamond may be used to clarify and stimulate sight, to benefit the brain,
as a metabolic balancing agent and has been used traditionally to counteract the
effects of poisoning.
Tips for using Crystals.
Feeling spaced out? Wandering around in a dreamlike state? Off with
the Pixies?
You probably need grounding &/or protection. One of
the best ways is to use crystals to help ground you and recover your focus in
the here and now. Obsidian,
Black
Tourmaline, Hematite and
Smokey
Quartz make
excellent touchstones when you are feeling despondent and out of sorts, or you
need to boost your personal energy shield. Carry one or more of them around with
you and these quiet companions will help to keep you ‘down to earth’ and well
‘grounded’. They will also increase and strengthen your personal energy shield
or ‘Aura’ providing ‘protection’ so that you will no longer be bombarded by the
world’s intense and sometimes harsh energies whist carrying
them.
The
power of great music grows “Classical Capsicums”.
The
other day I was driving along in my mobile university (car) when I felt like a
change, so I flipped over to the radio. I arrived on 4BC just as they were
starting an interview with the grower of “Classical Capsicums”. Needless to say,
this aroused my interest.
You see He sells his produce at the Redlands Markets, but he grows them
in Murwillumbah which is part of Byron Shire. Here there is good rich soil and
plenty of rain; helpful for growing capsicums! But he grows these extra
wonderful “Classical Capsicums”, so named because he assists their growth by
playing music to them.
This
story continues…..
But
not just any old music,
instead he plays them classical
music, usually of the Baroque style. He went on to say that
it’s
not just the music, but rather the vibrations put off by the music and not just
vibrations but the kind of vibration for the time of the day that makes them
grow so well. In India they have divided the 24 hour day into 24 vibration zones
and using the right vibration or tempo at the proper time further helps their
growth.
Under this system, about a third of the day is kept for silence; plants,
just like us require their sleep time. And who would really appreciate listening
to music relentlessly all day long. Each hour then has its own tempo and mood;
some are exhilarating and others are more contemplative. But the key is in the vibrations…… Good vibrations grow great capsicums,
capsicums that are bigger, more nutritious, with brighter colour than their
fellows and taste great to boot. Little wonder that he has no problem selling
his premium priced ‘Classical Capsicums”.
Interestingly, he also found that ‘heavy metal’ and ‘death metal’ played
to them does just that: It
kills them!
His story reveals that the vibration from the music sets up a sympathetic
resonance that can be used to enhance growth or to inhibit it. Naturally, this
is not just confined to the plant kingdom.
Music is also being used to control animal behaviour, as well as our
own.
The vibration coming from the music we listen to can be used to
enhance
our experience of life, or to inhibit
our experiences. Music obviously plays an important role in the
environment we chose to place ourselves in. And remember the vibrations work on us
whether we are consciously listening or not!
Interestingly, music is being piped into to stores to control our buying
habits. Experiments are being conducted in the field of crowd control; to keep
exuberance from breaking into aggression. And who hasn’t been roused into a
feeling of expansion by the rendition of a moving piece of music (vibrations). Love
those “good, good, good vibrations,
something’s happening to me”.
Vibrations play an important role in healing. We regularly play
music in our healing sessions; this sets the mood allowing for improvements to
take place. Often sounds from bells, drums, cymbals, striking sticks or whatever
are utilized for their vibrational contribution to the healing process.
Employing the power of the right sound at the right time allows for an increase
in vibrations which lifts us to a whole new dimension, it is here that healing
may take place.
